Selection criteria for faculty and students

 

The student flow is continuous throughout the year, being open to medical and non-medical professionals in the health area, as well as in other areas. For admission, the interested professional must contact the postgraduate program secretariat and schedule an interview with the program coordinator. These interviews are held on Mondays in the morning or Thursdays in the afternoons, for that, the candidate must bring their updated curriculum on the Lattes platform and a 3 × 4 photo. In this interview, the coordinator will evaluate the candidate’s scientific background, as well as indicate in which line of research he will develop his dissertation/thesis. The candidate’s name will be considered by the department’s graduate committee, which meets on the first Monday of each month. Upon being approved by the commission, the student will have a maximum period of six months to develop the project of his dissertation / thesis, which includes introduction, literature review, methodology and schedule, in addition to sending the project and consent form for analysis in the research ethics committee of the Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP). The presentation of the project will be carried out through an expository class lasting 30 minutes open to the public, the same being accused by three professors with a minimum degree of doctorate from the institution or guests. A student is considered approved if he/she obtains approval from at least two of the three members. After the public defense of the project, the student will be regularly enrolled and will start counting its term, being 24 months for the master’s degree and 48 months for the post-doctorate.

 

For the post-doctorate, the student must present the title of doctor recognized by the Ministry of Education, the article arising from his doctoral thesis and published in a journal indexed in the journal citation reports (JCR), at least Qualis B2 classification by CAPES, form specific registration form found on the UNIFESP website, research project with the name of the supervisor and acceptance term from the UNIFESP research ethics committee. For the post-doctorate, there will be no need to present an expository class with an argument board for enrollment. In possession of all the documentation, the student will be enrolled and there is no set deadline for its completion. To receive the certificate, the student must deliver the final report of the teaching and research activity, as well as the article resulting from the research in a JCR-indexed magazine, at least Qualis A2 classification by CAPES.

 

The selection of the faculty will be based on their teaching and research activities, which will be analyzed by their updated Lattes curriculum. The criteria will be degree (doctorate and/or associate professor), publications in journals indexed in the JCR and Qualis classification, prior guidance from undergraduate students, master’s, doctorate or postdoctoral students, and obtaining financial aid through public agencies private companies. The selection will be made, preferably, at the end of each quadrennium of evaluation of the program by CAPES, however, exceptionally, in view of the excellence of the candidate and necessity of the program, the selection may occur during the evaluation period of the quadrennium. The interested candidate, medical or non-medical in the area of health sciences, should contact the program secretary and schedule an interview with the program coordinator with their updated Lattes curriculum. Then, the candidate’s name will be presented to the graduate committee of the department which meets on the first Monday of each month. Once the name is approved, the candidate will fill out a specific form to be forwarded to the postgraduate technical chamber of the Escola Paulista de Medicina. Once your name has been approved, the accreditation period will initially be five years, and can be renewed after a new analysis of your scientific and teaching performance.
